All F-1 and J-1 students at UMKC must be enrolled in UMKC’s International Student Health Insurance.

UMKC Student Health

UMKC Student Health and Wellness is here to serve the students of UMKC. It is their mission to keep you healthy, so you can focus on and excel at your educational goals.

UMKC Student Health and Wellness is a general health care facility that provides evaluation and treatment for many health concerns. They are staffed with dedicated professionals and provide easily accessible and affordable health care to enrolled students.

All enrolled students can visit the UMKC Health Center for free. Just take your student ID card with you. Students can make appointments online on the Student Health and Wellness website.

UMKC Counseling Services

UMKC Counseling Services’ mission is to foster the psychological well-being, personal development and educational potential of our diverse student body.

All UMKC students are eligible for up to 8 free counseling sessions at UMKC Counseling Services.

UMKC Campus Police

The UMKC Police Department is an essential university partner promoting a safe and orderly learning environment and enhanced quality of life with a reduction of crime, social disorder and fear of crime.

UMKC Campus Police offer several services, including Lost and Found, Motorist Assistance, Safety Escort Services, Bicycle Registration, and more. Visit their services web page for more information.

The Department is located at 5005 Oak St. in the bottom level of the Cherry St. Parking Structure. The Police Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They never close.

There are three ways to contact campus police.

  1. Dial 9-1-1 or 1-5-1-5- on any campus phone.
  2. Dial 816-235-1515 on a non-campus phone.
  3. Well-marked emergency or “blue light” phones are located throughout the campus grounds and parking lots which will connect directly with the UMKC Police dispatcher without dialing.

The most common crime that occurs on campus is simple theft. The best way to avoid theft is to use simple common sense. Do NOT leave your possessions unattended at any time.
